BEST Engineering Week · 2025
SiB (BEST Engineering Week) is an educational event held over several days of the same week. Companies, professionals and BEST members deliver workshops on different subjects. During the week, students work in teams and put their ingenuity and skills to the test to solve a proposed challenge.
Edition advertised for 10–14 November 2025.
Why take part in SiB?
Ingenuity, teamwork and a week together. This is what SiB2025 offered; its credit, food and prize arrangements belong to that edition.
Challenge yourself
Put your ingenuity to the test and show that you can tackle complex real-world problems. Join a team and work through the challenge together.
0.5 ECTS credits
In SiB2025, participants could qualify for 0.5 ECTS credits by taking part in the competition and attending one of the scheduled activities.
Lunch is on us
Domino’s Pizza supported SiB2025 with pizzas in different flavours to recharge during lunch. Snacks and drinks were also provided during the competition.
Interdisciplinary teams
Even if you registered individually, an activity at the start helped participants form teams according to their preferences and tackle the challenge together.
Prizes for the team
SiB2025 partner agreements offered prizes for winning teams to enjoy activities together. The advertised prizes are listed below.
Celebration party
We like to celebrate a job well done. The 2025 edition ended with dinner and a party to celebrate the event and meet BEST Valladolid members.

Participation and frequently asked questions · SiB2025
These are the conditions described in the 2025 announcement.
How were the 0.5 ECTS credits obtained?
To qualify for 0.5 credits, participants had to take part in the competition and attend one of the advertised activities. They had to provide their details to a BEST Valladolid organiser at the activity to verify attendance.
What if I had an exam or a compulsory class?
Justified absences for compulsory classes or exams were allowed. Provided someone from the team remained at the competition, the team was not disqualified.
What about allergies, diets or special requirements?
The form allowed participants to state any requirements concerning food, snacks or participation. Organisers could contact them privately if further information was needed.
Which degree programmes could take part in SiB?
SiB was open to students from any UVa degree programme who wanted a challenge. Although advertised as a STEM competition, multidisciplinary teams were encouraged to bring different perspectives.
Could I register without a team?
Yes. At the start, an activity helped form teams according to participants’ preferences.
How did the Case Study work?
It was a theoretical challenge to solve a real-world problem according to the brief’s criteria. Internet access and the tools needed to develop a proposal were allowed. The FAQ stated 09:30–16:45 for developing a solution; the programme preserved above gave 17:15 as the submission deadline.
Could I obtain an attendance certificate?
Yes. The original activity form offered an attendance certificate to participants who needed one. It also asked participants to notify organisers in advance if unable to attend.
I enjoyed the competition. Can I join BEST?
Of course. SiB is only the tip of the iceberg of what we do in BEST. Ask any organiser about their experiences. If you would like to get to know us, register your interest in BEST.
